<img src=’http://www.pamelabowman.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/herd-of-african-elephants.jpg’ alt=’herd-of-african-elephants.jpg’ ‘class=’alignright’/>I have this theory. It goes something like this. Humans, by nature, are a herd species. Humans want to belong to a small group with other humans, preferably other humans that share the same interests.
The problem I see with this “natural tendency” is that for someone to belong, someone does not.
As humans with the wonderful ability to empathize, you would think we would choose not to exclude, but usually, I find we are so happy to be included we join in the natural selection of those chosen, ever so subtle, to be excluded.
Such good sheepies. Got to admire those who live the law of the land, eat or be eaten. Lead, follow or get out of the way. Now where the heck is my herd going? Don’t want to be left behind!
Or maybe I do.
